In the Sardinian capital, on the fifth floor of one of the city's most fashionable hotels, there is a terrace with an exclusive view where a refined and tasteful food and wine experience is on offer. This is Cielo a Palazzo Tirso.

Cagliari has its own unique way of surprising visitors: from below, with its narrow streets steeped in history, and from above, when the horizon opens up in a play of reflections between stone and water. But there is one place that seems to encapsulate both perspectives, a suspended refuge that allows the city to converse with its gulf. It is called Cielo Rooftop Experience and it is not just a panoramic terrace: it is a moving backdrop, an all-day dining venue that changes its appearance depending on the time of day, accompanying its guests on a journey of flavors and sensations that lasts from morning until midnight cocktails.

On the fifth floor of the Palazzo Tirso MGallery, the view stretches over the Old Town on one side and the sea on the other. It is a setting that is not just a backdrop: it enters your glass, invades your plates, accompanies the music. Those who choose this rooftop do not come just to “see” the city, but to be part of it from an unusual angle: suspended, luminous, vibrant.

Four moments, one gastronomic stage

Supervising the entire gastronomic offering is executive chef Federico Sanna, who returned to Sardinia after his experience at the Armani Hotel in Dubai. The format of the Cielo Rooftop Experience is led by head chef Francesco Tronci, who has a wealth of previous experience, including at Sarti del Gusto and Fradis Minoris.

At Cielo, we start with light, Mediterranean lunches, perfect for those seeking an oasis of flavor without straying far from the city center. We continue with tapas and raw seafood, transforming the afternoon into a convivial prelude. followed by meat and fish dishes, interpreted with an elegant and skilful touch; and finally, when the city slows down, the menu gives way to signature cocktails and music, creating a magical atmosphere that begins at sunset.

The cuisine is an invitation to discover: from recipes that highlight local fish to cuts of meat that recall Mediterranean traditions, each dish is designed to interact with the view, the glass, and the time of day. This is not a simple gastronomic sequence, but a culinary choreography that changes with the light of the sun.

Mixology with a view: sustainability in a glass

If the kitchen sets the flavors, the central rooftop bar sets the pace. Here, mixology is not just a technique, but a true liquid narrative. The drink list follows the seasons, with fresh, selected ingredients, and relies on a sustainable approach that transforms even peels and scraps into elements of surprise. Each cocktail is designed as a mini journey: a balance between aesthetics, creativity, and memories of the local area.

It is not uncommon for a sip to encapsulate the freshness of Sardinian citrus fruits, the minerality of wild herbs, or the intense color of seasonal fruit. The philosophy is clear: reduce waste without reducing wonder, transforming it instead into a story that combines ethics and pleasure.

Sunset as a ritual

The moment that best captures the soul of the Cielo Rooftop Experience is when the sun sets over the city, illuminating the port and Via Roma, which has just been renovated. The terrace is transformed into a small open-air theater: the city lights come on, the music picks up pace, and the glasses become mirrors reflecting amber hues.

Here, the aperitif is not just a break, but a collective ritual. Some choose a table for two with a view of the port, others gather around the circular bar counter, and others dance to the beats of a DJ set. In summer, the rooftop becomes a magnet for those seeking a vibrant atmosphere: DJ sets, live music, and private events find a natural setting at Cielo, making every evening different from the last.

Beyond the terrace: an experience for the senses

The real strength of the Cielo Rooftop Experience is not just the sum of its parts—cuisine, cocktails, views, music—but the way they all come together. It is a place that invites you to stop and let yourself be absorbed by a moment suspended in time.

During the day, it offers the lightness of the sea breeze, while in the evening, it provides a sense of belonging that comes from shared energy. It is a rooftop that speaks to all the senses: to the eyes, with a setting that changes color; to the taste buds and the nose, with surprising dishes and cocktails; to the ears, with a soundtrack of DJ sets and live sessions; and to the touch, with the elegant comfort of the furnishings that define the space.

A stage that celebrates the art of hospitality and, with its name, seems to remind us that sometimes all it takes is one more floor to touch the sky.
