On Dec. 9, Manhattan hosted the Redhead ceremony, an extraordinary event celebrating a variety of excellence among New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Prestigious awards were presented during the evening, with many signs reaffirming their three stars: Eric Ripert's Le Bernardin, Dan Barber's Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Thomas Keller's Per Se and Patrick O'Connell's The Inn at Little Washington.
Rising to the top step of the podium is Jungsik Yim's restaurant, which opened in 2011 in Tribeca. “We are really happy to be part of the Korean food movement that is taking over in the United States,” declares chef de cuisine Wonsuk Jeong as reported by ABC News.
He continues, “So many people before us have put the tradition of our home country first, Junghyun Park for example. Now it's up to us to preserve and spread an immense cultural heritage while continuing to turn our eyes toward the future". The team then celebrated their leadership by joining the other thirteen giants on the stage.
Gwendal Poullennec, international director of Michelin Guides, was particularly excited during the award ceremony “We are thrilled to welcome Jungsik and his employees among the esteemed three-starred, and we look forward to finding out what they have in store for the future.”
The anonymous inspectors noted a significant change from the new entry, both in the execution of the dishes and in the presentation, described as “inspiring”. “Yim and his team have reached an intoxicating level; they impressed us from start to finish”.
