Marco Pierre White is back in the spotlight for an exceptional reason: he has introduced a vegan menu at his steakhouse to meet the needs of a wider audience.

The news

Marco Pierre White's latest gimmick? After free meals for children, he has a vegetable menu to ensure serene dinners for all customers frequenting his steakhouses. This new menu is launching at Plymouth, where along with steaks, there will be options for diners that prefer not to eat animals. For some time, the well-known chef had already included some plant-based alternatives on the menu. But now, for Veganuary, the month dedicated to promoting a vegetable-forward diet, he is taking this radical step. The plant-based menu complements the classic menu and includes four appetizers, four main courses, and four desserts.

Appetizers include focaccia crostini with Provençal-style grape tomatoes and herbs; roasted tomato soup with basil; beet and walnut salad with endive and merlot dressing; and fried zucchini with rosemary sea salt. As for main courses, however, there will be a choice of gnocchi with a vegetable Bolognese ragout; "faux" steak with spinach; chickpea and spinach curry with basmati rice, wild mushrooms, and extra virgin olive oil; and roasted root vegetable and bean cassoulet with tomato sauce and herb crust.

If, after the appetizer and main course, one still has an appetite or simply the urge to have a treat, the chef has also thought of dessert. Muesli-covered apple crumble with green apple sorbet; almond rice pudding with vanilla poached apricots; sparkling wine seasonal fruit; and a selection of vegan ice creams and sorbets.

In short, there is no shortage of options.

"The world needs to eat less meat, but the reality is that until now, plant-based products have often fallen short of expectations in terms of quality and versatility on restaurant menus. We are going to change that," closes Marco Pierre White.
