Margarita Araneta Forés, an internationally renowned Filipino chef and restaurateur known for bringing Italian cuisine to the Philippines and beyond, has passed away at age 65. A successful entrepreneur
Forés has made an indelible mark in Philippine dining with brands such as Cibo, Lusso and Grace Park, building a veritable culinary empire. Her journey in the restaurant business began in 1997 with the opening of Cibo, a casual-chic Italian restaurant that quickly won over the public with the quality of its authentic cuisine.

A passion born in Italy
The bond between Forés and Italy was deep. In 1986 she spent four months in our country to study the Italian language and cuisine. She was a student of great masters such as Masha Innocenti in Florence, Jo Bettoja in Rome and Ada Parasiliti in Milan. This experience marked her deeply, so much so that it inspired her entire future career.

International recognition
Margarita Forés' talent and dedication did not go unnoticed. In 2016 she was honored as “Asia's Best Female Chef” by The World's 50 Best Restaurants. In 2013, Casa Artusi awarded her the “Honorary Marietta Award” for her contribution to the spread of Italian cuisine in the Philippines. In addition, her chain Cibo was ranked 44th in the Top World Artisan Pizza Chain.

The chef was found lifeless in her hotel room in Hong Kong, where she was staying. The cause of death has not been released.
