Stunning $10,000 Tip in Salt Lake City! A group of diners decided to give $10,000 as a reward to the restaurant staff, bringing tears of emotion to everyone.
The news
"There's no exaggeration in the world better than gratitude toward others," wrote the French moralist Jean de La Bruyère. It seems that Steven Howard, Nikisha Timms, and their group of twenty friends were inspired by these words. On September 15th, after dining at Monarca, a Mexican restaurant in Salt Lake City where they were regular customers, they left a tip of a whopping $10,000, as reported by wkyt.com, to show their gratitude to the owner for the lovely evening.
This left the owner of the restaurant, Alfonso Brito, absolutely astounded. Despite working in the restaurant industry for a lifetime and co-founding Monarca with his wife in 2021, he had never witnessed anything like this before. "When we moved to America, we had nothing to our name. We had $20 in our pockets and started working in the restaurant business as dishwashers," he recalled, sharing the heartwarming surprise with CNN. "As the diners were about to leave, they called me over and said, 'Hey, Alfonso, can you come here? We want to thank you because we had a great time.' I said, 'Of course!' When we all gathered, they pulled out $10,000 from their pockets. I didn't know what to say. I was shocked. The employees, too, were amazed and applauded."
In an interview with CNN, Howard and Timms explained the reason behind their generous act. "Gratitude is truly a beautiful gesture – it's wonderful to repay the warmth we received in some way," said Howard. "Seeing tears in their eyes? An unparalleled emotion," added Timms. They also mentioned that they usually leave substantial tips, but this time, given the wonderful evening, they wanted to go above and beyond, ensuring that $2,000 went to the waiter who had served them, and the rest was shared among the entire staff. "My team is made up of extraordinary people who truly make Monarca a great place," said Alfonso, his heart filled with the joy and pride of someone who has been rewarded for a lifetime of hard work.
