A generous gesture: the hotel chain Motel One has chosen to donate the entire inflation bonus paid by the German state to its employees.

The news

Motel One is a hotel chain with locations in Germany, Austria, England, and many other European countries. The company's top executives made an unexpected and generous decision by allocating a substantial inflation bonus - amounting to 8.5 million euros - to the employees of their facilities, to thank them for their work.

We know very well that price increases have affected not only our country, but also many others, including Germany. Compared to 2021, consumer prices have increased by 7.9% over the past year. Therefore, the Government has decided to throw some lifelines to entrepreneurs and workers in the hardest-hit sectors.

One of the measures was the decision to exempt companies from paying taxes and social security contributions regarding salaries not exceeding 3000 € per month. This was a significant bonus, which Motel One has decided to use with great generosity. A total of 8.5 million euros will be paid to the workers, the entire amount as compensation for inflation. "With this bonus, we want to relieve those who work for the company and counteract the increase in prices. We have gone through a difficult period, and after the restart, our employees have shown great solidarity. Therefore, we decided without hesitation to allocate this money to them," says Daniel Müller, Co-CEO of Motel One.

A spirit of mutual collaboration that has driven employers and employees to place full trust in each other - and it cannot be denied that the relationship established has borne fruit for both. Who knows if other companies will follow the good example of Motel One, allocating even a portion of the bonuses received to those who work for them with commitment.
