The bill starts at €200 and you dine eight stories above the ground: Monte Carlo's most exclusive temple of spit-roasting is Le Grill at the Hôtel de Paris. Everything you need to know about prices, menus, and chefs.
The Palace
The inauguration of the Grand Hôtel de Paris, right next to the prestigious Casino (the latter still splendid, but now somewhat trivialized by gambling situations that make one regret the years when the Casino was intended as a place dedicated to exclusive luxury, while today this - like others - has been converted to a more “democratic” offering, in order to accommodate all economic segments of clientele).

But the “de Paris” remains exclusive, even after various renovations, keeping its historic façade intact, while the interiors have been progressively modernized. Every kind of comfort is guaranteed. Even the bar retains its slightly retro charm, while dining is available in different settings, from the sumptuous Salle Empire, which boasts a formidable history, having hosted the most grandiose and imaginable parties and gourmet evenings for over a century and a half.

On the ground floor, Alain Ducasse and his young executive chef Emmanuel Pilon firmly maintain their three Michelin stars, renewing the cuisine here too, which remains solid yet contemporary—more up-to-date than one might imagine.

Le Grill, the “snobbish” solution
You wonder if a table is available at reception, but there are usually no problems, as this bright restaurant with its very distinctive features is so spacious. So you go up to the top floor and are welcomed like royalty, even if you haven't left an Aston Martin or a Ferrari with the valet. The only difference, if you haven't booked in advance, will be where you are seated.

Some prefer to sit directly on the terrace, others in the first row protected by glass windows, or the second row of tables—those who, instead of fully enjoying the splendid view of the Italian coast, will be closer to the kitchen, almost entirely visible, where chef Dominique Lory works his magic.

What to eat and how much it costs Le Grill
A wise choice would be to order an appetizer, a spit-roasted meat (or fish) and an unforgettable soufflé. The excellent foie gras terrine with fresh figs costs €65, but if you want to go overboard, you can have it accompanied by a glass of Chateau d'Yquem. Of course, the wine list offers the best wines from all over the world, thanks to the hotel's historic wine cellar.

The choreographed spit
The spit is served directly at the table, vertically, in a very choreographed manner and at a price of €90 per person for Corrèze veal. There are various meats on offer, but lobster could also satisfy non-meat eaters. Here we are between €80 and €135.

We mentioned the soufflés, and the raspberry and pistachio soufflé is not to be missed. 30 euros. Of course, everything will be preceded by exquisite amuse-bouches, while delicious petits fours will be served at the end. The final bill will come to around €200, and the tasting menu is priced at €210. Unless you are tempted by the prestigious bottles of wine, in which case anything can happen, because here at the top or down at Louis XV you can expect similar prices, but from up here the view is very different.
