The News
After the announcement of the closure of Locanda Locatelli, awarded a Michelin star, good news also arrives: Giorgio and Plaxy Locatelli are about to open a restaurant at the National Gallery in London, in collaboration with the catering company Searcys, restaurant announced.

Located between the ground and second floors of the Sainsbury Wing, it will open on May 10 after substantial changes are made and several renovations are carried out, overseen by the team of Selldorf Architects. The interiors have been designed by LXA Studio: the bright dining room, which will seat 80, has been enhanced by a 10-meter artwork, Crivelli's Garden by Paula Rego (1935-2022); neutral colors, dark wood floors, moleskine leather and pearl marble complete the ambience, softening it.

The menu will focus on Italian classics and exclusive chef's suggestions: pappardelle, pecorino fava beans and arugula, braised veal ravioli with parsley gremolata and Parmesan cheese sauce, roast chicken cacciatore and polenta, and fresh fruit tart with custard.

Beverage, on the other hand, will be catered by Martin Bidden, Searcys' head of Champagne and wines, and Virgilio Gennaro, who has worked with the couple for several years. While Bar Giorgio will offer guests real coffee made in Italy, along with a selection of sweet and savory maritozzi.

"This is an extraordinary moment: it is a great honor to be hosted in such an important setting, steeped in history and creativity, where the great paintings of the past inspire new ideas for our future. Caravaggio has always been a source of inspiration for me, so cooking before his masterpieces is a dream come true. I am excited to evoke the same boldness and authenticity in my dishes,", says the face of Masterchef Italia.
