Tensions flare up anew between restaurant owners and influencers: Does someone explicitly invited have the right to a free meal?
The news
"Odi et Amo": just like every relationship has its ups and downs, the relationship between restaurant owners and influencers sway between moments of deep crisis and extreme collaboration. This time, Ana Agudelo, a Spanish influencer with 98,000 followers on Instagram and 173,000 on TikTok, is causing a stir.
The web erupted in controversy when Ana, in a Twitter thread, revealed that she had been invited by a restaurant on the occasion of its "anniversary" since opening, with the purpose of promoting the initiative on social media. According to the influencer's account, upon arrival, the staff invited her to freely choose dishes from the menu. However, after enjoying the meal and expressing gratitude for the hospitality, as she was leaving, a waitress chased after her, accusing her of leaving without paying.
"They literally called me a thief, publicly accusing me in front of all the other customers," she shared on social media, garnering over 12,500 likes in no time.Given the rather unpleasant situation, Ana requested to speak with the manager, who apparently clarified that the invitation was only to visit the restaurant and not to have a meal. After the discussion, though, the influencer managed to leave without settling the bill.
One might say, "Clear agreements make for long-lasting friendships": the influencer vs. restaurant saga continues.
