50 Best Hotels 2026: A Record Number of Italian Hotels on the 51–100 List. Here Are the “Magnificent 9”

The World's 50 Best Hotels network has unveiled the expanded list of hotels ranked 51st through 100th for 2026. This year’s list stands out for its strong global presence (with 18 new entries and 5 “returns” to the list), but it is Italy that has achieved extraordinary success, reaffirming its status as one of the world’s most highly regarded destinations for luxury hospitality.

The Triumph of Italian Hospitality: 9 Standouts and 5 New Entries

Of the 50 listings announced, Italy boasts a total of 9 properties, confirming the charm and extraordinary quality of its tourism offerings, from the Amalfi Coast to the capital, and on to the Dolomites, Tuscany, Umbria, and Puglia.

The most significant figure concerns the new entries: no fewer than 5 of the 9 Italian hotels are making their debut in this segment of the ranking.

• Il San Pietro di Positano (Positano) – New Opening (No. 58): Built into the cliffs overlooking the sea, it offers terraced rooms surrounded by bougainvillea, a pier with a private beach accessible via an elevator carved into the rock, and a panoramic tennis court.
• Castiglion del Bosco (Montalcino) – New Entry (No. 62): In the heart of the Val d’Orcia Natural Park, an 18th-century estate featuring period furnishings, historic wine cellars for tastings, and an 18-hole golf course.
• Orient Express La Minerva (Rome) – New Entry (No. 66): The historic brand’s first standalone project in a 17th-century palace just a stone’s throw from the Pantheon, featuring frescoed ceilings, marble staircases, and a spectacular rooftop pool.
• Forestis Dolomiti (Bressanone) – New Entry (No. 68): An oasis of sustainable wellness at an altitude of 1,800 meters, nestled in the South Tyrolean forests, featuring minimalist suites crafted from larch wood, Kneipp hydrotherapy, and an infinity pool overlooking the Dolomites.
