The News
The bustling town of Sète, known as the “Venice of the Languedoc,” is the stage for the latest part of an important chapter in local gastronomy. Jordan Yuste, a chef who had conquered the culinary stage through his participation in Top Chef in 2022 and, even earlier, with the awarding of his first Michelin star in 2020, has announced the final closure of his restaurant L'Arrivage. The news, made official in November and reported by Food&Sens, now finds its conclusion with the cessation of operations in December 2024, just as the Christmas season approaches.
L'Arrivage was not just a restaurant, but a place where tradition and modernity intertwined. “Market cuisine," as Yuste himself liked to call it, a tribute to fresh produce from the Halles of Sète and a passion for the land. Since April 21, 2017, when the restaurant's doors first opened, Yuste has written unforgettable pages of gastronomic creativity, culminating in Michelin recognition. “It was not my goal to enter this magnificent starry sky, “ the chef confessed on social media, ‘but passion, dedication and commitment always take us to the top.’
Behind this choice is a deep and intimate motivation. “Time does not catch up,” Yuste wrote, revealing a desire to devote himself to his health, tested in recent months, and especially to his son, ‘who is growing up too fast: these moments will not return.’ With gratitude, he wanted to thank his loyal clientele, suppliers and collaborators, and the Michelin Guide team for their trust and attention over the years.
For now, Jordan Yuste is taking a well-deserved break. However, he hinted that his culinary adventures are not over: “We will meet again for new adventures... ”. The culinary community waits with curiosity and trepidation to find out what the next chapter will be for a chef who has managed to combine talent, humility and a deep love for his craft. With the closing of L'Arrivage, one of Sète's brightest stars goes out, but the light of Jordan Yuste's talent continues to illuminate the landscape of contemporary cuisine.
