Gianluca Gorini

Pesaro - Marche

Gianluca Gorini 2

Born in Marche relocated to Romagna, with a step in London, Gianluca Gorini has lived up to his titles of Best Emerging Chef of Central Italy 2012 and Surprise Chef of the Year in the Identità Golose Guide 2015, earning a MICHELIN Star for "daGorini" in 2019.  He has been running the restaurant with his wife Sara since 2017 and it keeps on earning accolades.

Born in Pesaro in 1983, Gianluca Gorini was born into a culinary family: his mother managed a trattoria with his uncle, which he hung out in from a young age. There wasn't a specific moment when Gianluca announced that he would become a chef; it was a natural choice of professional path that evolved as he grew up amidst the hustle of the kitchen, with bubbling pots and homemade pasta made by his grandmother and mother.

After graduating from the catering school in Pesaro, he began his professional journey along the Romagna coast, then moving to "Bagno di Romagna," where he learned from his first mentor, Paolo Teverini. There, close to Tuscany, he discovered the intimate relationship between the culinary profession and the understanding of ingredients. This connection would remain in his heart and mind throughout his entire career, as evidenced by his 2023 Italian Gourmet "Pane e Ristoranti" award. His desire to challenge himself led him to London, not only to learn in the kitchen, but also to master the English language. He joined the brigade at "Monsieur Max," a starred French restaurant led by Chef Alex Bentley.

In 2008, he returned to Italy and spent four years alongside his mentor Paolo Lopriore at "Il Canto di Siena." In 2012, he embarked on a new journey with Francesco Bracali, earning the title of Best Emerging Chef of Central Italy. In 2013, he became chef at "Le Giare" in Montiano, with the support of patron Claudio Amadori. Two years later, confirming Gianluca's talent, he received the Surprise of the Year award from the Identità Golose Guide.

In 2017, a turning point came: with his wife Sara Silvani, he opened "daGorini," a haven of tradition and culinary passion founded by the couple in San Piero in Bagno, a charming Romagnolo village they now call home. Here, the love for the region and for cooking blend harmoniously, giving life to an authentic and sincere culinary experience. Every dish served at "daGorini" pays tribute to the ingredients and human relationships that Gianluca and Sara engage in daily with small local suppliers, foragers, hunters, farmers, and breeders.

The accolades were not waited for long: in 2019, Gianluca was named Chef of the Year by the Identità Golose Guide, and the restaurant received a MICHELIN Star in December. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, "daGorini" triumphed in 2021, claiming the top spot in the 50 Top Italy ranking in the Restaurants Up to €120 category, and Gianluca was named Chef of the Year – D’Amico Award by the same guide.

In 2023, as a recognition for the focus on ingredients, "daGorini" was included in the Emilia-Romagna a Tavola Guide "for its extraordinary ability to create a dialogue between ingredients, capturing even the most unexpected elective affinities and hitting the mark of taste spot on.” Furthermore, he once again reaffirmed the MICHELIN Star and secured the second place in the 50 Top Italy 2023 ranking of Best Italian Restaurants – Creative Cuisine.
