Originally from Emilia, Andrea Incerti Vezzani founded Ca’ Matilde in Rubbianino (Reggio Emilia), earning a Michelin Star with a cuisine rooted in local tradition, garden-grown ingredients, and a focus on health and balance .
Andrea Incerti Vezzani is the chef and co-owner of Ca’ Matilde, a restaurant and country inn located in Rubbianino di Quattro Castella, in the province of Reggio Emilia.
His passion for cooking stems from a deep connection to the land and the natural environment around him. He personally cultivates the restaurant’s garden, creating a near self-sufficient system that smartly integrates local ingredients into his culinary vision.
His cooking style is firmly rooted in the Emilian-Romagna tradition, offering refined interpretations of classics like herb-filled tortelli, bomba di riso, and culatello. The menu also features seasonal vegetarian options and creative desserts, always maintaining a careful balance between flavor, health, and structure.
Andrea trained at the hotel management school in Salsomaggiore and began his professional journey at establishments such as Ristorante Delle Notarie (Reggio Emilia), Hotel President (Cattolica), and Le Maison de Soussurre (Cervinia). In 2001, he opened his first restaurant, La Cantina, in Puianello (RE), which was quickly included in the Veronelli and Michelin guides.
In 2006, he launched Ca’ Matilde with his wife, Marcella Abbadini. Just two years after its opening, the restaurant began receiving critical acclaim, culminating in the award of a Michelin Star. His approach has been described as passionate and balanced—genuine flavors that celebrate health, territory, and environmental sustainability.
