Is it right to bring children to restaurants? The web is divided after a customer's outburst, disturbed by noise during her romantic dinner.

The news

Is it a fine dining restaurant being too lenient towards parents with kids or just extremely irritable customers? That's the dilemma dividing and amusing the web. According to The Mirror, a young woman shared on Reddit how her romantic Valentine's Day evening was ruined by some lively and mischievous little guests. "Screaming children ruined my date: kids should be banned from restaurants," is the statement with which the girl began her speech. A statement that leaves no room for interpretation. The Mirror reports that the young couple had decided to treat themselves to a dinner at a medium to high-end establishment for Valentine's Day, without considering the presence of "little Cupids" in the restaurant.

"There was a five or six-year-old girl who never stopped making noise, running around, and jumping. At one point, she even started messing up my hair, touching me and my cutlery. The mother must have seen my expression as she occasionally apologized half-heartedly and temporarily brought her daughter back to the table. The girl kept screaming, and no one did anything, even though the tables nearby also looked disapprovingly." Extremely upset, the guest continues: "I wonder why parents go to a restaurant for Valentine's Day if they have a misbehaving child. If they can afford to eat there, it means they can afford a babysitter, and if they can't find one, they should stay home."

After the complaint, inevitably, comments from other users poured in, mostly in support of the two lovebirds: "I had a similar experience last Valentine's Day, and the child in question was even listening to Baby Shark without headphones," writes one. "That's true torture! I would have intervened if I had to endure that song in the background! You're a more patient person than me." Others then criticized and labeled the two parents as selfish, more focused on spending a night out than taking care of their offspring. "It's pure selfishness. They don't care about the experiences of other diners. They want to prove to themselves that their relationship is going well and show everyone that they can still go out and have fun even if they're parents... They don't care if the child is bored or unhappy, they just want to brag to their friends pretending to have well-behaved kids," reads one comment. Perhaps after all these controversies, restaurants will have to declare in advance whether they are "kid-friendly" or not!
