Debutes as a chef, Andreas Larsson fell in love with wine in the late 1990s and has never left the world of oenology since. He is an award-winning sommelier, most notably holding the title of the Best Sommelier of the World ASI 2007. Larsson shares his expertise through teaching, consulting, and event organizing.
Andreas Larsson was born in 1972 in Stockholm and had a passion for gastronomy from a young age. This led him to attend a hospitality school, graduate as a chef in 1990, and work professionally in that role before falling in love with wine in 1996.
During a trip to France, specifically in Burgundy and the Rhône Valley, he discovered the world of oenology. "When I first tasted a great wine, I was so fascinated, I wanted to know how this magical beverage could express so much, show such diversity, complexity, and longevity, I wanted to know it all." Consequently, he enrolled and graduated as a sommelier from the Restaurangakademien in Stockholm in 1999. After graduation, he worked full-time as a devoted sommelier in renowned restaurants and began to compete.
Not long after, the accolades started coming in: In 2001 and 2002, he was elected the Best Sommelier in Sweden; in 2002, the Best Sommelier of Scandinavia; just two years later, the Best Sommelier of Europe; and finally, in 2007, the Best Sommelier of the World ASI. But that's not all; in 2003 and 2004, he received the Trophée Ruinart; in 2005, he became the International Sommelier of the Year for Wine; in 2008, he received the Laureat of the Swedish Wine Academy Grand Prize; and the following year, the Laureat of the Bacchus Prize.
Today, Larsson dedicates time and effort to training future sommeliers. He is also the Wine Director at “PM & Vänner” in southern Sweden, awarded One MICHELIN Star and a Green one. In addition, he engages in consulting and event organizing, as well as collaborations with Decanter magazine.
