Salvatore Sodano, a chef originally from Campania, is now at the helm of Local, the Michelin-starred restaurant in Venice. With an attentive approach to local products and international experience, Sodano offers modern, creative cuisine that enhances Venetian flavors.
A child of the arts, Salvatore first entered the kitchen for fun at the age of 10. Then to supplement his income during his college studies in Food Science and Technology. Later, what started as a game became a real job. First in Rome with Oliver Glowig, then in Los Angeles as executive chef of a fine dining restaurant and again with Cristina Bowerman in a catering company. Then to London to run the kitchen at Enoteca Turi with his brother Francesco, and for a stint as senior sous chef to Simon Rogan at Fera restaurant at Clardige's.
Back in Italy, Sodano worked alongside his brother Francesco Sodano at the starred restaurant Il Faro di Capo d'Orso on the Amalfi Coast, where he consolidated his style. In 2022, he accepted the challenge of leading the kitchen at Local restaurant in Venice. Here, Sodano focuses on the use of local and seasonal ingredients, reinterpreting Venetian flavors with a personal and contemporary twist. In fact, his work is characterized by a constant focus on sustainability and the quality of raw materials, working with local producers to offer a gastronomic experience rooted in the territory.
