Valerio Izzo

Young maître and manager of Piazzetta Milù, a MICHELIN-Starred restaurant in Castellammare di Stabia. Valerio Izzo is also a skilled entrepreneur as well as a top professional in the field.

Born in 1991, Valerio Izzo is the manager of the MICHELIN-Starred restaurant "Piazzetta Milù" in Castellammare di Stabia. The venue, originally a pizzeria and steakhouse, has become a refined restaurant with a MICHELIN Star, thanks to a close-knit family and three capable brothers who each found their role by working together: Maicol, Emanuele, and Valerio.

Valerio has completed internships with Enrico Bartolini, Massimo Bottura, and has professional experience in London. He is also an AIS-certified sommelier, an ONAF taster, and an expert in JTR mixology. At Milù, he recruits and manages the staff, collaborates in the creation of dishes, researches tableware and ceramics for the new menus, and is capable of handling a dining room full of gourmet enthusiasts from all over Italy and much of the world on his own.

Moreover, he oversees all activities of "Milù Outside": the projection of "Piazzetta Milù" through consultancy, events, and external projects. In 2020, he created "Shub," a high-end cocktail bar and champagne room in the historical center of the city of Sorrento, launching a new concept of speakeasy in the Sorrento Peninsula.

"I landed in the dining room after starting in the kitchen, and that's where my adventure in this world began. But while the former was a role that made me melancholic and gloomy, now I feel that I am in my element, living the life I want. I experience that very rare and fortunate feeling which is the joy of work, despite swollen legs and a wrecked back."
