A major milestone for Michelin! The first international selection of the world's best hotels is set to make its debut during an exclusive ceremony on October 8. But that's not all: Reporter Gourmet will be in Paris to bring you every detail of the event, from behind the scenes to the live awards ceremony. In the meantime, enjoy this special preview with all the details.
The MICHELIN Guide is set to enter the world of global hospitality: on October 8, 2025, at an exclusive ceremony in Paris, the first fully international selection of MICHELIN Keys will be presented, an award that celebrates the most renowned and forward-thinking hotels on the planet. The review, which follows the successful launch in 15 national destinations, marks an important step for the historic guide, which has always been aimed at recognizing hospitality in the most prominent establishments.

But there's more: in addition to the Keys, four new Special Awards will be introduced, designed to recognize excellence in key areas of the hotel industry. Specifically:
- MICHELIN Architecture & Design Award: Recognizes hotels whose architecture and overall aesthetics contribute to a unique and unforgettable experience.
- MICHELIN Wellness Award: Dedicated to establishments that offer innovative and holistic rituals and treatments, capable of guaranteeing guests an authentic personalized wellness program.
- MICHELIN Local Experience Award: Celebrates hotels that immerse guests in the spirit and deep cultural identity of their region.
- MICHELIN Opening of the Year Award: Awarded to a new hotel that has had an exceptional impact in its first year of operation; a property that immediately stands out for the quality of its services and hospitality.

The nominees for each award were announced on the MICHELIN Guide's social media channels and editorial platforms according to a specific schedule. The entire selection will be announced live on the Guide's digital channels and during a closed-door event to be held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, overlooking the Louvre and the Tuileries Garden. The award ceremony will bring together around 300 hospitality professionals from around the world, and our publication Reporter Gourmet will be there to bring you live coverage: follow us on social media (Facebook and Instagram) for all the latest updates.
Everything you need to know about MICHELIN Keys: how are they awarded?

Just as MICHELIN Stars are the benchmark for restaurants, MICHELIN Keys identify hotels that offer the most extraordinary stays. Assessed by the Guide's inspectors according to five universal criteria, the Keys do not just judge the services offered, but consider the overall experience of the stay. Numerous factors can therefore have an impact.
Specifically, the evaluation parameters are divided into three levels:
- One MICHELIN Key: A special stay, a hotel with a strong personality that offers a high-quality experience at a competitive price.
- Two MICHELIN Keys: An exceptional stay, an extraordinary place in every detail, where the architecture, design, and passion of the team create a memorable experience.
- Three MICHELIN Keys: A unique stay, the ultimate in elegance, service, and style. It is a travel destination in itself, one of the most exceptional hotels in the world.

The current selection of hotels in the MICHELIN Guide already includes over 7,000 establishments in more than 125 countries, and the most important feature of the list remains its openness to new ideas, beyond any clichés: "The selection includes city hotels and hotels in the middle of nowhere, designer hotels and classic hotels... There are castles, hostels, tents, and ryokans, hotels with 200 rooms at the top of a skyscraper, and establishments with two rooms located in an ancient watchtower. Each of them deserves the MICHELIN Key," assure the inspectors on the website of the same name. With the awarding of the Keys, the guide offers travelers a reliable tool for discovering and booking the very best hotels around the globe. So...stay tuned!
