Karim Bourgi

Karim Bourgi is an internationally renowned pastry chef known for his mastery of combining French tradition with Middle Eastern influences. With a career filled with success and prestigious collaborations, Bourgi has taken the pastry world by storm with his innovative vision and dedication to impeccable technique. His philosophy is based on balancing authentic flavors with elegant presentation, and his desserts have become synonymous with excellence around the world.

Born in Senegal to a Lebanese family, Karim Bourgi developed a passion for cooking at an early age, which led him to train in France, the cradle of haute patisserie. He graduated from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu school in Paris, where he refined the classic techniques of traditional French cuisine. His early professional experiences included working with some of the biggest names in the business, including Pierre Hermé, from whom he learned the importance of precision and creativity.

After his time in Paris, Bourgi moved to Dubai, where he quickly became known as one of the region's most talented pastry chefs. He worked in luxury restaurants and hotels, including Buddha Bar and the Four Seasons Hotel, and distinguished himself for his ability to create innovative desserts that combined French techniques with local ingredients such as dates, pistachios and orange blossoms. In 2021, he founded his own patisserie, KB Pâtisserie, in Dubai, which quickly became a landmark for lovers of fine desserts.

In addition to KB Pâtisserie, Bourgi is also the co-founder of KUYA, a concept that blends modern pastries and Filipino street food, expanding his repertoire with exotic flavors and bridging Middle Eastern and Asian cultures. The success of KUYA once again demonstrates his ability to reinvent himself while maintaining the principles of quality and innovation.

Bourgi is known not only for his technical perfection, but also for his commitment to sharing his passion and knowledge. He has participated in numerous international culinary events and regularly holds master classes for young pastry chefs around the world. One of his most famous creations is his reinterpretation of the croissant, where he combines flavors such as salted caramel and pistachio, making each taste a unique experience.

He is known for his generosity in sharing his knowledge and for an approach to life that combines dedication to work with a deep passion for teaching. His culinary philosophy is based on the idea that a dessert should not only be aesthetically pleasing, but should also evoke strong and immediate emotions, making each bite a sensory journey. Among his many accolades, Bourgi was named Best Pastry Chef in the Middle East in MENA's 50 Best Restaurants in 2023.
