The Biography
Born in March 1974 in Poggibonsi, near Siena, Matteo Temperini has always maintained a strong connection to his native Tuscany. His passion for cooking led him to train in some of the world's most prestigious kitchens. He began his career in France under the mentorship of Alain Ducasse, working as a sous chef at Spoon - Food and Wine in Paris and later as chef de partie at the three-Michelin-starred Le Louis XV in Monaco. These experiences provided him with a profound understanding of high-level culinary techniques.
After broadening his horizons with experiences in cities like New York, Lugano, and Macau, Temperini returned to Italy, where he worked at Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence and later at Il Gallopapa in Castellina in Chianti, where he earned his first Michelin star in 2002. In 2008, he became the Executive Chef at the renowned Le Sirenuse hotel in Positano, where he led the restaurant La Sponda to its first Michelin star in 2011.
In 2019, Matteo joined the team at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco as Executive Chef, overseeing all the resort's dining outlets, including Campo del Drago. Here, he combines his international experience with a deep respect for Tuscan tradition, using only locally sourced ingredients, which he personally selects, and carefully tending to the estate's organic garden. This approach led Campo del Drago to receive its first Michelin star in the 2023 Michelin Guide Italy and 2 Forchette in the 2023 Gambero Rosso Guide to Italian Restaurants.
