Biography
Born in a city in Hebei, about 300 km from Beijing, Xin Ge Liu has always harbored a great passion for painting and fashion. After graduating from high school, driven by curiosity about the world and inspired by the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun," she decided to move to Florence. There, besides obtaining a diploma from the prestigious Polimoda fashion school, she discovers and cultivates a deep love for cooking, having learned many traditional Chinese recipes during her childhood spent at her grandmother's house. Xin Ge sees Florence as a shining stage to emerge internationally, and with her restaurant,
Il Gusto di Xinge, adds a splash of color to the city's gastronomic scene, enriching it with a high-level Chinese culinary offering previously absent. The inspiration for the unique design of the sign comes from the desire to offer more to her customers, turning a place near her first restaurant, Il Gusto Dim Sum, into a gastronomic destination. The collaboration with architects Sabrina Bignami and Alessandro Capellari has created an environment that changes atmosphere with the daylight, crafting a magical experience for visitors.
Her approach to cooking is deeply influenced by her background in fashion, seeing food as an extension of creative expression, comparable to designing a dress. This vision is reflected in the dishes she offers, where she seeks inspiration in images, memories, and historical materials, creating culinary experiences that are at once impactful, poetic, and playful. Il Gusto di Xinge is not just a journey in taste but also in aesthetics, with a presentation of dishes and cocktails that always surprises for creativity and innovation. Every element, from the table setting to the culinary creations, is the result of thorough research and a desire to share stories and emotions through food.
