Everything is ready for the ceremony on October 8, when the new hotels in the first international selection of Michelin Keys will be unveiled. As preparations are in full swing, here is the shortlist of candidates for each category of special awards and details of the event in the French capital.
MICHELIN KEYS: THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL SELECTION REVEALED
- Just as Stars reward the best restaurants, MICHELIN Keys reveal the establishments that offer the most extraordinary stays.
- 2,457 hotels worldwide have received One, Two, or Three MICHELIN Keys in the first global selection of the MICHELIN Guide
- Four new special awards recognize establishments that stand out for their excellence and uniqueness in four different areas
The MICHELIN Guide has presented its first global selection of MICHELIN Keys. Following the launch of this award in 15 travel destinations, last year MICHELIN Guide inspectors scoured the world and chose from among the more than 7,000 hotels featured in the MICHELIN Guide selection to identify those offering the most exceptional experiences. In total, 2,457 hotels worldwide have been awarded One (1,742), Two (572), or Three (143) MICHELIN Keys, representing the crème de la crème of global hospitality and meeting the MICHELIN Guide's highest standards of hospitality and quality. Unveiled at an exclusive ceremony at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, all of these hotels can be booked via the MICHELIN Guide website and apps, with integrated concierge services and VIP benefits for an unforgettable experience.

" 125 years after its creation as a guide for discerning travelers, the MICHELIN Guide is once again redefining excellence, this time in the world of hospitality. Just as MICHELIN Stars celebrate the world's best restaurants, MICHELIN Keys reveal the hotels that offer the most extraordinary stays, where design, service, and location come together to create unforgettable moments. With the introduction of the MICHELIN Keys, the Guide establishes a new global and independent benchmark for exceptional hotel experiences," says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide. "Thanks to their unique experience in the field, MICHELIN Guide inspectors have selected the best establishments from around the world, reflecting the diversity and excellence of today's hotel industry. Whether travelers are looking for iconic resorts, historic city hotels, or hidden gems off the beaten track, the MICHELIN Keys provide a reliable guide to discovering, exploring, and booking memorable stays that inspire and delight."

Updates and news on all continents
Europe
MICHELIN Keys have been updated across existing selections in Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, with notable updates in Italy. Meanwhile, inspectors have added hundreds of new MICHELIN Keys in countries across the continent. With over a thousand MICHELIN Keys, Europe represents a significant share of the world's best hotels. France is the country with the most establishments in this selection, with 203 MICHELIN Key hotels, followed by Italy with 188 and Germany with 130.
North and Central America
The United States, Mexico, and Canada have updated their MICHELIN Key selections with 50 new additions and updates. In addition, for the first time, MICHELIN Guide inspectors have also highlighted MICHELIN Key-worthy hotels throughout Central America and the Caribbean, characterized by tropical and cultural destinations, with particularly strong representation in Costa Rica and Saint Barth, as well as the Bahamas, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. In this region, the best hotels often surprise with their diversity, from glamping in the wilderness and eco-lodges in the jungle to elegant city boutiques and charming country establishments. A total of 526 hotels have been awarded MICHELIN Keys in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean (23 Three MICHELIN Keys; 123 Two MICHELIN Keys; 380 One MICHELIN Key).
South America
Reflecting the continent's rich diversity of cultures, landscapes, and travel experiences, inspectors awarded 84 hotels with MICHELIN Keys (5 Three MICHELIN Keys; 21 Two MICHELIN Keys; 58 One MICHELIN Key) in seven countries. The MICHELIN Keys cover major cities, coastal towns and more remote regions, offering travelers a wide range of stays. The five new Three MICHELIN Keys are located in Brazil, Chile and Peru. Among the hotels included in the selection is a property in Rapa Nui, on Easter Island.
Africa
The inaugural selection ranges from luxury safaris in South Africa and Kenya to historic riads in Morocco and beach resorts in Mauritius and the Seychelles. A total of eleven destinations on the African continent are included in this selection, with six establishments awarded Three MICHELIN Keys in four different countries: Kenya, Morocco, Namibia, and South Africa. The latter country has two establishments awarded Three Keys, both located within Kruger National Park, offering the ultimate luxury safari experience with spacious suites and residences, Big Five expeditions led by rangers, and premium gastronomic and spa experiences.
Asia
This new selection sees the MICHELIN Keys updated in Japan and Thailand, as well as the addition of numerous establishments in mainland China, Cambodia, India, Vietnam, and more than 15 other countries. Among the updates, a Japanese ryokan dating back more than 500 years has been upgraded from Two to Three Keys, while new Three MICHELIN Key properties include hotels in mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, the Maldives, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
Middle East
The MICHELIN Keys arrive in the Middle East for the first time, highlighting the best hotels in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and five other countries. While Dubai dazzles with the bold luxury travelers expect, the region also reveals secluded getaways set against some of the world's most breathtaking landscapes. With 13 hotels awarded a MICHELIN Key (1 Three MICHELIN Keys, 3 Two MICHELIN Keys, and 1 One MICHELIN Key), Dubai showcases a remarkable range of style and luxury. Doha, the capital of Qatar, follows closely behind with 10 hotels (3 Two MICHELIN Keys and 7 One MICHELIN Key), including several hotels boasting their own private beaches, while Oman and Saudi Arabia invite travelers to immerse themselves in some of the world's most unforgettable desert adventures.
Oceania
There are 63 hotels that have been awarded MICHELIN Keys—a first for this continent—spread across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and French Polynesia. These include resorts on remote islands in Bora Bora, sublime architectural properties on the Australian coast, and spectacular estates in New Zealand. The selection highlights a strong mix of city hotels, including historic properties, original discoveries, and the presence of major international luxury brands. From a MICHELIN Three-Key eco-resort on a private atoll offering guided excursions that highlight its diverse ecosystem and sustainability initiatives, to a Gothic-style manor in the Adelaide hills, awarded Two Keys, to a luxurious lodge near Queenstown (New Zealand) on a 150-year-old stone farmhouse on Lake Hayes, which includes its own vineyard, modern accommodations with views of the surrounding mountain peaks, and a design inspired by European castles.
The four new special awards
In addition to the MICHELIN Keys, the MICHELIN Guide presents four Special Awards, created to reward properties that stand out for their excellence and uniqueness in specific areas. After the announcement of the five nominees for each category in August and September, the winners were revealed during the ceremony. The MICHELIN Architecture & Design Award celebrates hotels whose architecture and design contribute to creating unforgettable stays and enhance the customer experience thanks to their unique aesthetic identity. It was awarded to Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Its monumental geometric design of vertical and deconstructed volumes redefines the Dubai skyline, with six interconnected towers composed of cantilevered terraced blocks, each with its own dedicated spaces and services. The MICHELIN Wellness Award, which recognizes facilities offering innovative and holistic wellness programs designed for the body and mind, was awarded to Bürgenstock Resort Switzerland, a historic yet modern destination perched above Lake Lucerne.
The resort spans three hotels and features extensive spa facilities, including its Alpine Spa with multiple pools, steam rooms, and medical wellness programs focused on recovery and rehabilitation. The MICHELIN Local Experience Award recognizes hotels that offer guests engaging connections to their surroundings, embodying the character and spirit of their region. This year, the award goes to La Fiermontina Ocean in Larache, Morocco. A property that celebrates Moroccan heritage and supports nearby villages through educational and employment initiatives, inviting guests to share meals and stories with locals. Located within a protected natural area, the hotel features traditional houses, olive tree landscapes, and ocean-view suites that offer an immersive experience in rural Moroccan life.
Finally, the MICHELIN Opening of the Year Award, supported by United Overseas Bank (UOB) and created to recognize newly opened hotels that have had an exceptional impact on the hospitality scene in their first year of operation, was awarded to the Burman Hotel in Tallinn, Estonia. Opened in 2025 in Tallinn's historic center, this elegant boutique hotel offers 17 rooms designed with care and unique materials. Connected to the Bombay Club, guests can enjoy fine dining, a spa, and entertainment, creating a sophisticated experience that is both intimate and vibrant.

The MICHELIN Guide Hotel Selection and MICHELIN Keys
Internationally renowned for its restaurant selection and stars, the MICHELIN Guide has expanded in recent years to relaunch its global hotel selection, which now includes over 7,000 hotels. Just as the Stars indicate the best culinary experiences in the world, the MICHELIN Keys reveal the establishments that offer the most extraordinary stays within the Guide's hotel selection. Carefully evaluated by MICHELIN Guide inspectors using five universal criteria, the Keys assess the overall experience of each hotel—beyond individual services—setting a new international and independent benchmark for recognizing excellence in the hotel industry.

One MICHELIN Key: a special stay
A real gem in terms of character and personality. It may break the mold, offer something different, or simply be one of the best of its kind. The service is always up to par and offers much more than other establishments in the same price range.
Two MICHELIN Keys: an exceptional stay
An extraordinary place in every respect, offering a memorable experience. A hotel with character, personality, and charm, managed with passion and remarkable care. The design or architecture of high quality and a strong connection to the area in which it is located are the elements that make for an exceptional stay.
Three MICHELIN Keys: a unique stay
The ultimate in comfort, service, style, and elegance. It is one of the most extraordinary hotels in the world and a destination in itself for the trip of a lifetime. It has all the elements to make every stay truly unforgettable. Having already celebrated over 1,500 hotels through its first national MICHELIN Key selections, the MICHELIN Guide is now going one step further by presenting and making bookable the best hotels in the world.
