Influencer Soycamarero once again takes the side of restaurateurs after a restaurant refused to serve little guests with ad hoc dishes.
The news
In Spain, the media fire that, to the sound of vitriolic reviews, has seen restaurateurs and diners clash for some time now continues to burn. The theater is always the same, namely the Web, and the latest spark was sparked after a customer's review criticizing a restaurant team for refusing to prepare an ad hoc dish for his or her child. “When we were seated, the restaurant was still empty, but still they refused to prepare an omelet for our son because the chef was very busy with other priority orders,” reads the review, accompanied by a score of one star out of five, which is the minimum.
Even before the owners' response, a tweet appeared on the web on the X account of Soycamarero, the now-famous Spanish account (with profiles on all social media and a huge following) that is the banner of hospitality industry professionals. Picking up on the diner's post, Soycamarero put the tussle front and center by asking users to voice their opinions, as La Vanguardia also reports. Almost all of the comments sided with the restaurateur, asserting the absurdity of the diner's request.
"When you have children you have to inform yourself what restaurant you are going to, whether the menu is suitable for little ones, whether there are dishes they might like or whether you have to and can bring food from home. I have a child and I always inquire about everything when I go out to dinner, so it's certainly not the restaurant's fault”; ‘They are right, if there is nothing on the menu that doesn't appeal to your child, it's just not there,’ are two among the many user comments. Shortly afterwards also came the response from the restaurateur, who did not waver on his position in the slightest, reciting, “We are not obliged to prepare anything that is not on the menu, especially, when we are swamped with work during the summer.” Rightly, last-minute “on-demand” menus do not yet exist, so -whatever your age- it is a case of informing yourself before dining in a restaurant.
