Biography

Emma Bengtsson was born in Falkenberg, Sweden, where she developed an early passion for cooking, inspired by her grandmother. Deciding to pursue a culinary career, she enrolled at the International Restaurant School in Stockholm. After completing her studies, she began working as a pastry chef at Edsbacka Krog, the only two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Sweden at the time. This position allowed her to refine her skills and develop a deep respect for Swedish culinary traditions.

In 2010, Emma moved to New York to work as a pastry chef at Aquavit. Thanks to her talent and dedication, she was promoted to executive chef in 2014, making her the first Swedish female chef to earn two Michelin stars in the United States. Under her leadership, Aquavit has maintained the excellence that made it famous, blending traditional Swedish flavors with modern techniques.

Her menu reflects a perfect balance, with dishes like creatively reinvented Salmon Gravlax using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Emma is known for her attention to detail and her ability to create dishes that are both visually appealing and delicious.
