A successful chef and entrepreneur, Cristiano Tomei has utilized his extensive travel experience to offer a limitless gastronomic experience.
Born on September 3, 1974, Cristiano Tomei graduated from the Nautical School and, passionate about all things related to the sea, he helped his father as a laborer in his youth, traveling the world and following his passion for the waves. Discovering new places and cultures, he became fascinated with exotic cuisines and new flavors, developing a passion for cooking. Cristiano is indeed a self-taught cook.
At 27, he returned to Italy, and after a year as a cook at a beach establishment, he opened his first restaurant in Viareggio. Initially located on the beach, “L’Imbuto” was later moved to the city of Lucca, in the Center of Contemporary Art. In 2014, the restaurant earned a MICHELIN star, which it later lost. Tomei runs the restaurant with his wife and the mother of their children, Laura Verpecinskaite. In the kitchen, Cristiano skillfully combines local ingredients with techniques and flavors from around the world.
In 2009, Tomei became a television personality, first appearing on the Rai program “La prova del cuoco,” then on “Masterchef Magazine,” and as a judge on “I re della Griglia” and “Cuochi d’Italia.” Tomei is also the executive chef of the historic “Hotel Bauer,” at “Settimo Cielo” on the top floor of the Hotel, on the Grand Canal, and until its final closure, at “De Pisis.” Tomei also opened the “Corteccia” restaurant in Milan, included in the MICHELIN Guide. Tomei also conducts training courses for young chefs through IN Cibum.
