Andrew McConnell

An accomplished entrepreneur and successful chef whose experience has earned him an honored seat in Australian culinary circles, but Andrew McConnell's restaurants attract customers from around the globe.

Andrew McConnell, born in 1976 in Melbourne, started his culinary journey as an apprentice at the elegant "Grand Hyatt Melbourne," but McConnell's passion for cooking took him to London, where he honed his skills in prestigious restaurants, including the two-starred “The Square” as a sous chef. He later moved to Hong Kong and Shanghai.

In 2009, returned to his homeland, McConnell opened his first restaurant, "Cutler & Co." Here, his innovative cooking quickly captured attention, earning accolades and awards, including three coveted hats in the Good Food Guide.

Not resting on his laurels, McConnell then created a series of restaurants, each with its unique identity: "Cumulus Inc.", celebrating the modernity of Australian cuisine in a relaxed bistro setting, and "Supernormal," offering dishes with Asian inspiration. His passion for wines and cocktails materialized in the opening of "Marion," an intimate wine bar, and "Gimlet at Cavendish House," a sophisticated cocktail bar. Additionally, he pays tribute to the sea with "The Atlantic," a seafood restaurant highlighting ocean flavors.

McConnell's culinary philosophy is rooted in the use of local and seasonal ingredients, an approach reflected in his innovative and sustainable creations. He has shared his vision through the publication of two cookbooks: "Cutler & Co: The Cookbook" and "Supernormal: The Cookbook."

Beyond being a successful restaurateur, McConnell is a mentor for young chefs and engages in various philanthropic initiatives. His expertise has made him a sought-after presence on television programs, including the renowned MasterChef Australia.
