She is 43 years old, and the monotony of the office is a thing of the past. Lucia Carniel's new life as a food blogger is a dream come true.

The story

Lucia Carniel is a food and travel blogger who boasts 76,000 followers on her online platforms 'L'ultima fetta' (The Last Slice). So far, nothing unusual, since creating digital content is the norm nowadays. However, what piques our curiosity is the path that led this woman to change her job. In fact, she comes from a completely different sector – an industrial one - where she had been firmly established for years, with a successful career as a manager to support her. However, passion ultimately won out over rationality, and Lucia gave up everything to pursue her dream.

Five years ago, she decided to invest in the social media world, leaving behind her secure position as a sales manager that had absorbed her for 13 years. Now, she creates recipes, videos, and introduces culinary (and non-culinary) destinations to her social media followers. But the most important thing is that she finally declares herself to be happy and fulfilled. “I learned how to make desserts and cook from my mother Luisa. Even when I was at De'Longhi, in some way, I was dealing with food. It was a recurring topic in my life. Then things developed further.”

In 2016, she opened her blog, cooking even at night to reconcile her passion with her job in the company. Then came the courses, and eventually the decisive call. The blog had been nominated as a finalist in the Saveur Blog Awards in the USA. So, she went to New York where she was noticed by some well-known food and wine companies, and started to create content for them.

"I love pastry and I participated in the auditions for Bake Off Italia. When I told my bosses at De'Longhi, they pointed out that there could be conflicts of interest since the brand was one of the sponsors of the show. Then, when the idea of being absent for three months came up, the answer was a definitive no. Giving up my position as a sales manager was not easy, but in 2018 I resigned." She showed great determination and found a new job that is certainly more fun than the previous one, as well as quite profitable.
