Lionello Cera: From the Roots of a Family Tavern to the Heights of Michelin Stars - The Success Story of Antica Osteria Cera

Biography

Lionello Cera, born in 1966, has emerged as a prominent figure in the Italian culinary world, transforming Antica Osteria Cera, a humble kitchen and bar opened by his parents Rino and Silvana in Lughetto di Campagna Lupia, Venice, into a Michelin-starred restaurant. Growing up in an environment where food preparation was an integral part of daily life, Lionello developed a deep love for culinary arts from a young age.

After completing his education at a hotel school and further studies at the Boscolo Etoile Academy in Sottomarina, Lionello, along with his siblings Daniele and Lorena and wife Simonetta, began in 1985 a journey of renewing the family's culinary tradition, focusing on the freshness of local seafood and the use of typical products from the mainland. Lionello specialized in raw seafood preparation, Daniele in hot dishes, and Lorena in baking and pastry. Their commitment to "hard work, passion, and the desire to always do better" transformed Antica Osteria Cera into a culinary landmark.

Lionello's culinary philosophy balances innovation with respect for Venetian tradition. His creations, a product of continuous research and respect for ingredients, perfectly exemplify the fusion of tradition with modernity. The restaurant, with its focus on raw seafood and a range of Venetian and Italian dishes, attracts food enthusiasts worldwide. The success of Antica Osteria Cera extends beyond its dishes to its wine selection, particularly white wines, and attention to detail that characterizes the entire restaurant.
