The Biography

Born on January 27, 1972, in Limoges, France, Fred Sirieix began his career in the hospitality industry as a chef but quickly discovered his true passion for front-of-house service. After training in a Michelin-starred restaurant in France, he moved to London, where he worked as maître d'hôtel at some of the city's most prestigious restaurants, including La Tante Claire and Galvin at Windows, the latter of which he managed for 14 years.

In addition to his work in restaurants, Fred has become a well-known face on British television, primarily through his role as maître d'hôtel on Channel 4's popular show First Dates, where he became famous for his affable and professional approach. He has also appeared in several other television programs, including Million Pound Menu on BBC Two and Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip on ITV.

Fred is also an active philanthropist. He founded National Waiters Day to celebrate the work of front-of-house staff and to encourage younger generations to enter the industry. He also launched The Right Course, a program that transforms prison restaurants into training centers for inmates, teaching them the skills needed to work in the hospitality industry.

Among the numerous accolades he has received, Fred was named Personality of the Year at the National Restaurant Awards in 2011 and won the Cateys Manager of the Year award in 2013. He is also the author of several books, including First Dates: The Art of Love, and has been awarded an honorary degree from the University of West London for his contributions to the industry.
